Frankfurt’s Bundesliga phenomenon Luka Jovic has reportedly fired his way onto Bayern’s radar…and that of Tottenham Hotspur.

Bayern Munich have been very public about their plans to complete a long overdue overhaul of their first-team squad next summer.

By the Bavarian’s impeccable standards, this has been a dreadful start to the season. Under the stewardship of Niko Kovac, Bayern are fifth in the Bundesliga with a number of their long-serving stars, such as Arjen Robben, Jerome Boateng and Franck Ribery, looking past their peak.

According to Kicker, the deal to sign James Rodriguez on a permanent basis following his two-year loan spell at Real Madrid is unlikely, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s rising star Luka Jovic understood to have been lined up as a replacement.

So Tottenham Hotspur fans may be already giving up hope of seeing the 20-year-old ‘Serbian Falcao’ in North London.

Calciomercato have claimed that Jovic is a target for Spurs after scoring 12 goals in all competitions this season, including that infamous five-goal haul in Frankfurt’s 7-1 thrashing of Fortuna Dusseldorf recently.

But, with so much money being devoted to building that new stadium, Tottenham did not sign a single player over the summer while their rivals strengthened their squads; a fact that hardly appeased supporters or manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Signing Jovic in 2019 ahead of a giant like Bayern Munich would be exactly the kind of statement Tottenham fans are craving. But do not hold your breath.
