Newport County loanee Ben White has rejected a contract offer from Brighton, leaving Premier League giants Liverpool and Spurs to duke it out.

The defensive records of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are like chalk and cheese.
While Spurs have built their free-flowing, swarming side on a platform of a solid back line, Liverpool’s ramshackle defence remains their Achilles heel.
Jurgen Klopp’s side might be two points ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s men right now, but they have let in eight more goals in the Premier League this season. The Reds were also breached 16 more times than Spurs in 2016/17 and 15 more in 2015/16.

It almost goes without saying that Pochettino seems to be able to organise a defence a little better than the booming-voiced, bespectacled German.
So the highly-rated Brighton centre-back Ben White must take this into consideration if he is forced to choose between North London and Merseyside.
The Scottish Sun states that 20-year-old White, who is on loan at Newport County and has already been tipped to play for England by manager Mike Flynn, has rejected a new contract from Brighton and will therefore have only one year left on his deal by the summer.
And it is understood that Spurs and Liverpool are watching developments closely.

But if White wants to fulfil his potential and develop into an England international centre-half, surely his decision is an easy one.
After all, not only can Pochettino set up a side to keep clean sheets on a regular basis, countless members of Gareth Southgate’s England squad made their Three Lions’ debut while playing for the Argentine at club level.
