Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion sent goalkeeper Alex Palmer to League Two Oldham Athletic on an emergency loan.

Alex Palmer’s time at Oldham Athletic was short and sweet.
The young goalkeeper moved to the Latics on an emergency seven-day loan from West Brom last week and, in what is likely to be his only appearance for the club, certainly made a positive impression.
Standing in for Daniel Iversen, who was called up for Denmark’s U21s over the weekend, Palmer started between the sticks as Oldham beat Cambridge United 3-1 on Saturday.
And though the 22-year-old’s clean sheet was ruined by a long-range stunner from Cambridge’s George Maris, Palmer caught the eye in the League Two clash and marked his senior debut with one very impressive save.

No wonder the Oldham fans were impressed.
What the future holds for Palmer at parent club West Brom, however, remains to be seen.
He is currently fourth in the pecking order with Sam Johnstone, Boaz Myhill and Jonathan Bond already at the Hawthorns and his contract is only due to run until next summer as things stand.
Perhaps the best course of action would be for West Brom to loan Palmer out for a prolonged period in the second half of the season.
