James Maddison scored his seventh Premier League goal for Leicester City on Saturday but could he replace Aaron Ramsey at Unai Emery’s Arsenal?

Tony Cascarino believes there is only one player Arsenal need to sign to replace the outgoing Aaron Ramsey – Leicester City play-maker James Maddison – in quotes reported by the Times.

It is well documented that Ramsey is on his way out of Arsenal, with Unai Emery making the surprise decision not to offer the long-serving Welshman a new contract.

The former Cardiff City starlet has since agreed a lucrative deal with Juventus that will make him the best paid British footballer of all time. And, with Ramsey enjoying an impressive run of form in recent weeks, the reality is starting to hit home that replacing this wonderfully gifted midfielder could be easier said than done.

But Cascarino thinks he has found the right man.

“I look at Maddison and I think, ‘Arsenal is your team.’ Maddison should be the man to replace Aaron Ramsey,” said the former Chelsea striker.

“There are not many great No.10s in world football but Arsenal desperately need someone who plays like the Leicester City man.

“Maddison’s work-rate is good and getting better. There is no question about whether he is technical enough for the top flight.”

Leicester paid £20 million to sign Maddison from Norwich City last summer and he has made the step up to the Premier League with ease, as reported by the BBC.

The 22-year-old scored his seventh goal of the season with a typically pinpoint free-kick as the Foxes cruised to a 4-1 win away at Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
