West Bromwich Albion tried to bring Sanson to the Premier League and now he is being linked with the Baggies’ Midland rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Morgan Sanson is a name that should ring a few bells in the minds of West Bromwich Albion fans.
Back in January 2017, the then Montpellier talisman was being heavily linked with a move to The Hawthorns, after all. The Birmingham Mail claimed the Baggies had registered an interest in the creative midfielder.
In the end, West Brom were forced to accept defeat with Sanson swapping Montpellier for Marseille for an initial fee of £8 million (Goal). But, two years on, reports from the continent are suggesting that the 24-year-old could finally be heading to England – just 12 miles down the road from The Hawthorns.
According to Le10 Sport, the Baggies’ bitter Midland rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers are now hoping to lure Sanson to the Premier League with the January transfer window weeks away.
The ambitious Black Country side are scouring Ligue 1 for a dynamic and forward-thinking midfielder and it is understood that Sanson, along with Lyon duo Tanguy Ndombele and Houssem Aouar, is on their wish list.
The Frenchman, who can play in the centre or wide on the left, has scored four goals and provided another four assists for Marseille in all competitions this season. And, should he move to Wolves and star in the Old Gold, it will not go down too well with West Brom fans.
