Celtic have scored six goals in six Scottish Premiership games but maybe Hibs winger Martin Boyle could come to Brendan Rodgers’ rescue.
Is there a more in-form attacker anywhere in Scottish football right now than Martin Boyle?
Hibernian were expected to have a difficult time of things this season after losing the influential trio of Dylan McGeouch, Scott Allan and John McGinn but Boyle’s superb form in attack has ensured that Neil Lennon’s side are level on points with second placed Rangers as things stand.
The 25-year-old has been hugely influential, providing thrust and creativity on the right while producing five assists in all competitions already. Boyle has even been tipped to make his Scotland debut before long.
So with Celtic seemingly suffering from a dearth of creativity and unpredictability right now, Boyle is perhaps exactly the kind of player who could freshen up Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Celtic’s displays have ranged from the underwhelming to downright dull so far in 2018/19 with the reigning champions enduring their worst domestic start in 20 years. They’ve scored just six times in six league games too.
So Boyle, who is in the form of his life right now and is a joy to watch on top form, could provide the skill and poise in attack that Celtic appear to be lacking.
The former Montrose and Dundee attacker has made a big step up this season so maybe it’s time for him to be offered an opportunity at the highest level of the Scottish game.
