While Rangers have two of the Scottish Premiership’s best goalkeepers, Old Firm rivals Celtic are suffering from a shot-stopper headache right now.

There is still a nine point chasm separating one Old Firm rival from another in Scotland’s top flight, but Rangers are closer to Celtic now than at any point since their demotion to the fourth tier six years ago.
Graeme Murty has got Rangers playing some very impressive football and they look a far more well-rounded and complete side to the mishmash unit that stumbled their way to third place under Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha last season.
While Rangers still do not possess players of the class of Moussa Dembele, Charly Musonda or Kieran Tierney, there is one position in Murty’s squad that comfortably outclasses Celtic right now – the goalkeeping department.

Craig Gordon’s long-term injury opened the door for Dorus de Vries (above) but the 37-year-old, who has barely featured since arriving in 2016, has not covered himself in glory as of late. It was his huge error which set Celtic on their way to a Europa League exit at the hands of Zenit last week.
And Scott Bain, the deadline day loan signing from Dundee, has not played once yet with manager Brendan Rodgers seemingly unconvinced.
As such, you could even make the argument that a player who has featured just four times for Rangers all season and not once in the league, Jak Alnwick, would get into Celtic’s starting XI these days.

The former Port Vale goalkeeper, who signed for £250,000 a year ago according to the Daily Record, has barely got a look in thanks to the excellent form of undisputed number one Wes Foderingham at Ibrox.
But Celtic would surely wish they could call upon a ‘keeper of Alnwick’s class and potential now with neither De Vries nor Bain managing to convincingly step into the void created by Gordon’s absence. In terms of goalkeeping options, it appears that Celtic are not the dominant side in Glasgow.
