Cuco Martina is on loan at Championship outfit Stoke City after leaving Everton in the summer.

Cuco Martina is one of a number of players deemed surplus to requirements at Everton, according to the Liverpool Echo.

A free-transfer signing from Southampton in 2017, the Curacao international became something of a key player in his first season at Goodison Park, filling in for the crocked Leighton Baines in an unfamiliar left-back position.

But Martina tumbled down the pecking order once Marco Silva and Lucas Digne arrived on Merseyside, joining Stoke City on loan until the end of the season.

And the Liverpool Echo reports that the former FC Twente full-back now has no future at Everton like fellow loanees Kevin Mirallas, Luke Garbutt, Sandro Ramirez and Mo Besic.

29-year-old Martina has stared 19 Championship games since moving to Stoke but has been replaced in The Potters’ starting XI by the attack-minded Austrian Moritz Bauer since former Luton Town boss Nathan Jones replaced Gary Rowett in the dugout.

So it remains to be seen whether Stoke would be willing to offer Martina the chance to stay beyond the end of this season.

A return to Goodison Park certainly doesn’t appear to be on the cards.
