Leeds United have been linked with Bolton Wanderers’ Championship enforcer Josh Vela since December 2017.

If Leeds United really want Josh Vela, this could be the opportunity they have been waiting for.
The combative midfielder has been on the Whites’ radar for around a year and a half now, with director of football Victor Orta seemingly a long-time admirer.
The Mail broke the news in December 2017 that Leeds were keen to lure Vela to Elland Road, while Bolton News reinforced their interest nine months later towards the end of the summer transfer window.
Whether Leeds are still keeping an eye on the 25-year-old remains to be seen. But it seems almost inevitable now that he will be searching for new employers over the next few weeks.
Vela is out of contract at the end of this season anyway, and it looks increasingly likely that his 14-year association with the Trotters is on borrowed time.
Phil Parkinson’s side look certain to be relegated anyway while the club’s ongoing financial problems have also cast a cloud over the Macron Stadium.

According to talkSPORT, Bolton have been issued with a winding-up order and have been given two weeks to find a new buyer with the threat of administration or liquidation looming large.
And Leeds could do worse than to offer Vela a new home. A versatile talent capable of playing in midfield or right-back, he could be a fine addition for free.
