Leeds United allowed Madger Gomes to leave last year, 12 months after they signed him from Liverpool.

Remember Madger Gomes, Leeds United fans? Probably not. And we don’t blame you.
Leeds appeared to have pulled off a coup when they signed the talented young midfielder from Liverpool on a three-year deal in the summer of 2017.
But after just two first-team appearances, coming in EFL Cup clashes against Newport County and Port Vale, Gomes was the first of many to bid farewell to Elland Road at the end of last season. The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that French second tier outfit Sochaux snapped him up for a nominal fee.
So is Gomes now starring across the Channel and showing Leeds what they are missing? Not quite.

The former Spain U18 midfielder made just nine Ligue 2 appearances for Sochaux and rapidly fell down the pecking order. And by the time the January transfer window slammed shut, he had a new club in a new league – Croatian team NK Istra.
Gomes joined Istra a month ago, as reported by the club’s official website, and has currently made four winless appearances for a team who are sitting just one place off the bottom in the Croatian top flight.
Maybe Leeds were right to get rid.
