Everton signed Andre Gomes on loan from La Liga champions Barcelona this summer but the midfielder has not yet made his Premier League debut.

Marco Silva ) of Everton before the Premier League match between Everton and Fulham at Goodison Park on September 29, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

It has been a mixed start to life at Everton for Marco Silva.

Saturday’s impressive 3-0 win against Fulham was only Silva’s second victory in seven Premier League games in charge of the Toffees, with the Merseyside club sitting in eleventh place after a rather underwhelming beginning to the campaign.

But Everton should look much stronger once the likes of Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, who both arrived from Barcelona in August alongside left-back Lucas Digne, are established in the starting XI.

£28 million centre-back Mina is expected to offer strength and technical quality in defence, but it is Portugal midfielder Gomes who Joleon Lescott is tipping for big things.

“It was great to see Everton prise so many players away from Barcelona,” the former Everton defender told Bwin.

“I think Gomes will be a very astute signing because he played more regularly than Digne and Mina last season.

Yerry Mina (L) and Andre Gomes (R) sign their contracts as a new Everton FC players on August 9, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain.

“I would expect to see a big improvement to Everton’s style of play and their ability to control games once Gomes returns to full fitness and gets into the flow of things in the Premier League.”

Gomes is yet to make his Premier League bow for the Toffees, having arrived on loan from Barcelona with a serious hamstring injury.

But the former Benfica and Valencia man has the potential to provide thrust and dynamism in a rather one-paced Everton midfield, either as a number ten or potentially alongside Idrissa Gana Gueye in a deeper role.
