‘I’d love him’: Nottingham Forest fans want Watford’s Andre Gray

Championship hopefuls Nottingham Forest appear to be setting up a link with Jorge Mendes, so could Andre Gray be a genuine target?

As fans of Wolverhampton Wanderers will tell you, getting into bed with Jorge Mendes can have its advantages.

Wolves supporters were understandably a little wary when an agent started playing an active role in their transfer activity but, less than two years later, masks of Mendes’ face were being worn around the Midlands in homage to the man who helped end their six-year Premier League exile.

And it seems that Nottingham Forest are aiming to follow Wolves’ lead.

As reported by the Nottingham Post, the City Ground giants enlisted the help of Mendes to bring the highly-rated Benfica duo Joao Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves to the East Midlands. The former even arrived for a club-record £13 million fee.

So Forest fans are entitled to dream that another Mendes client will be on his way in the form of Watford striker Andre Gray.

It is no secret that goal-shy Forest need a front man with the Mirror stating that they are keen on Lewis Grabban, Patrick Bamford and Nelson Oliveira. But Gray is another proven Championship striker whose 23 goals in 2015/16 fired Burnley back to the big time.

Gray would not come cheap one year after Watford signed him for a club record fee of around £18 million. But, with a wealthy owner providing the funds and Mendes pulling the strings, anything is possible at Forest.
