West Ham United have been linked with Everton duo Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin and it is clear which midfielder the Merseysiders should sell.

No doubt there is more than a few players Everton fans would happily see the back of this month.

However Tom Davies would, or should, be nowhere near that list. The shaggy-haired midfielder may have endured an indifferent season to date, but he remains the future of this Everton side, a homegrown hero who swaggered into the first-team and has the potential to be a linchpin for club and country for years to come.

So with the Mirror stating that former Everton boss David Moyes is hoping to lure the born-and-bred Scouser from Stanley Park this month, any approach from West Ham should be given short shrift by Everton.

Moyes was Everton manager when Davies joined the academy at the age of 11.

But he is simply too promising and too important to be sold this month, even if his performances have not lived up to the standards he set during his excellent breakthrough campaign.

In contrast, Everton should be only too willing to part with Morgan Schneiderlin should West Ham look into signing their underwhelming £24 million man. The Mirror stated in December that Moyes was keen on the Frenchman, as he wants a tenacious and tough-tackling midfielder to enhance his West Ham squad.

Schneiderlin has been in and out of the Toffees team this season and, in truth, has never lived up to the fee Everton paid Manchester United a year ago.

Surely Schneiderlin’s place will be taken by Davies eventually at Goodison Park, so it is clear which midfielder Everton should let West Ham sign.
