Greg Cunningham has been linked with an exit from Championship outfit Preston North End – and Leeds United need a left-back too.

Almost a year after Charlie Taylor made that controversial switch from Leeds United to Burnley, the West Yorkshire giants still haven’t found a convincing replacement at left-back.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson played just one Championship game in a forgettable loan spell before being sent back to Manchester United while the £1.5 million Belgian Laurens de Bock has done little to suggest he could solve Leeds’ problem position.

So with a proven, affordable Championship full-back in Greg Cunningham potentially on his way out of Preston North End this summer, he could be the answer that Leeds have been looking for.
HITC sources have told us that Fulham and West Brom are interested in snapping up the Lilywhites ace. Preston don’t want to sell Cunningham, but with just a year remaining on his contract, a respectable bid could test their resolve.

The 27-year-old has started 17 Championship games this season for the play-off outsiders and has been one of the most consistent and reliable full-backs in the league. He impressed too as Preston came from behind to beat Leeds 3-1 at Deepdale earlier this month.
So his expiring contract should not go unnoticed at Elland Road.
After last summer’s series of underwhelming imports, it seems that Leeds are now targeting proven Championship players such as the Barnsley loanee Oli McBurnie (Mail) and Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood (Sun).
Cunningham would be a similarly astute addition.
