Max Lowe is on loan at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen from Championship title chasers Derby County.

Left-back has become a problem position for Frank Lampard at Derby County.

Craig Forsyth is likely to miss the rest of the season with injury while Marcus Olsson has spent a while on the sidelines, leaving the Rams boss short of options and considering a move to reunite with his former Chelsea and England teammate Ashley Cole, as reported by the Derby Telegraph.

But Max Lowe should give Lampard plenty to think about.

After making two appearances in the early weeks of the season, the 21-year-old was farmed out on loan to Aberdeen, and to say that he has been impressive at Pittrodrie would be an understatement.

Lowe is due to return to Derby in January but it is a testament to his performances north of the border that Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie is desperate to see him stay.

“Max has been absolutely top-class since he came in; he is a great lad and his performances have been different class,” Shinnie told the BBC.

“We are all desperate for him to stay. But when a player is doing so well, his own club might look at him for their team.

“It is out of our hands but everyone is desperate for Max to stay.”

Dons manager Derek McInnes, the BBC adds, is due to hold talks with Lampard in the near future about the prospect of keeping Lowe until May.

But, with Derby’s lack of options at left-back becoming an issue, it would be no surprise if the Championship promotion chasers made the decision that they needed Lowe back at Pride Park in the New Year.
