West Ham United reportedly wanted to bring Nice winger Saint-Maximin to the Premier League last year, now he is a target for Serie A giants AC Milan.

Allan Saint-Maximin has long been viewed as one of the most exciting raw talents in French football.

Blessed with rapid pace and a street footballer’s skill, the 22-year-old Nice forward has the potential to go as far as he wants in the game. And it seems that his dazzling potential could be about to pave the way for a move to AC Milan.

Saint-Maximin has been heavily linked with the Rossoneri over recent months, Calciomercato reporting that he is one of Milan’s top targets ahead of what is likely to be another busy summer of change at the San Siro.

Nice, meanwhile, are demanding £52 million for a player they signed from Monaco two years ago, as reported by RMC Sport (29 April).

So it seems that West Ham United’s chance has passed them by.

According to the Sun 11 months ago, the Hammers had expressed an interest in Saint-Maximin when he was valued at a comparatively paltry £18 million.

These days, the France U21 international is probably far too expensive, even for a club who showed plenty of ambition in the transfer market last summer. And, with all due respect for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, AC Milan represent a much bigger opportunity for a player who is crying out for a chance at a top club.
