If Scottish Premiership champions Celtic had to cash in on a midfielder, they should surely choose Stuart Armstrong over Tom Rogic.

If Celtic wanted to cash in on one midfielder during the summer transfer window, it would surely not be Tom Rogic.
It is understood that Rogic, valued by Celtic at around £4 million, is unhappy with the terms being offered and is concerned about his game time at Parkhead following Charly Musonda’s arrival from Chelsea on an 18-month loan deal.

As it stands, Rogic’s current contract will expire in the summer of 2019 so, if he does not sign a new one, the Hoops must decide whether to sell in a few months or risk losing the former Central Coast Mariners star on a free.
But while Rogic has struggled with injuries this season, recently returning from 10 weeks out, he is surely not the midfielder that Celtic would benefit from putting on the market.
Double the price
Instead, Stuart Armstrong would make them far more money with the Sunday Post stating that the £10 million-rated Scotland international was a target for Southampton amid previous links with a number of other Premier League clubs.

Armstrong has been a shadow of last season’s 17-goal dynamo after speculation surrounding his future intensified last summer. And, on current form, Celtic should bite anyone’s hands off if they offered £10 million for the former Dundee United midfielder.
But if Celtic are forced to cash in on Rogic, this probably means they will opt to keep Armstrong and hope he finds that golden touch again.
