Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen has not featured in the Premier League since Sam Allardyce took charge.
Klassen was brought to Everton from Ajax during the summer transfer window, but he has rarely been picked by Allardyce.
The Dutchman almost went to Napoli in January, but decided to stay at Goodison Park to fight for his place.
So far Allardyce has still not picked Klaassen, with the midfielder regularly being left out of match day squads.
The way the 24-year-old has been treated has raised criticism from Everton fans, but it may be that Klaassen just doesn’t fit in with Allardyce’s system.
Davies and Klaassen could hardly be any more different, with the pair possessing very contrasting skill-sets, yet the former feels he is perfect for Allardyce’s tactics.
The youngster said: “My attributes seem to fit into what the manager wants from his midfield. With the way he wants us to play, with us pressing, it fits my game.”
A heavy-pressing style, which requires great energy, arguably doesn’t fit Klaassen’s own skills.
The former Ajax man is an excellent play-maker, who thrives with the ball at his feet, but he doesn’t have the same energy as Davies.
And unless Allardyce is prepared to change his style, it is hard to see exactly how Klaassen will be able to win his place in the team back.
