Jamie Lindsay has departed Scottish Premiership giants Celtic on a permanent deal, joining Championship side Ross County.

Ross County clearly believe they have pulled off a real coup landing Jamie Lindsay from Celtic in a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old spent the 2017/18 season at Dingwall but was unable to stop the Staggies from being relegated to the second tier. Yet with promotion already in their sights, Ross County did not wait around to sign Lindsay for a second time.

“He is a hungry and talented young midfielder who was much in demand with other clubs so it’s a real coup to have got him back to Ross County on a permanent deal,” co-manager Steven Ferguson told the Evening Times.

“Getting Jamie back to Dingwall permanently was a real priority for us during the close season and we think he will have a big part to play in the coming season.”

After a season in which former Celtic youngsters like Dylan McGeouch, Darnell Fisher and Graham Carey seemed to take their careers to the next level, however, it remains to be seen whether the Hoops one day regret not giving the Glasgow-born Lindsay more of a chance.

The now-22-year-old started his career with Celtic but never made a single first-team appearance for the club. However he showed at Ross County, where he made 32 appearances in all competitions, that he has the potential to play first division football.

And, while some Celtic fans have given him their blessing, others are wondering whether the decision to let Lindsay go was the right one.
