Victor Orta is still viewed with suspicion by Leeds United fans after a testing summer transfer window.
There has been no shortage of players linked with a January move to Leeds United recently, from Japanese international midfielders to the top scorer in Germany’s second tier.
But according to Leeds Live, manager Thomas Christiansen only wants two new players in the New Year, one of which being a highly-rated youngster who will spend the majority of his time with the club’s Under-23 side for now.
The other player in Christiansen’s sights, however, is a proven Championship performer who could immediately go into Leeds’ first-team – which is coincidentally exactly what Leeds fans have been asking for too.
While the likes of Samu Saiz and Gjanni Alioski have proven to be inspired additions to the Leeds side, director of football Victor Orta has come under fire with a number of his experimental, imported signings struggling to adapt to life in English football.
So links with Marvin Ducksch, Moanes Dabour, Yosuke Ideguchi and co were understandably met with a degree of suspicion from Leeds fans who have witnessed Mateusz Klich (below) and co in close quarters this season.
But Christiansen too appears to have realised the need for players who have proven themselves at this level before and will not need a few months to adapt to a change of climate, culture or style of football.
And if Orta delivers, he will not only be in the manager’s good books but can also claw back some credibility with supporters.
