Virgil Gomis has never played a Championship game for Nottingham Forest but can’t stop scoring for the club’s youth teams.

Is Virgil Gomis the next big thing to emerge from Nottingham Forest’s esteemed academy?
Well, all the signs suggest that this 19-year-old striker has all the talent to follow in the foosteps of Patrick Bamford, Jamaal Lascelles, Oliver Burke, Ben Osborn and Ben Brereton at the City Ground.
While Forest have struggled for goals of late, recently going five games without finding the back of the net, Gomis has been in prolific form for the U23s.
The teenager continued his remarkable season with a hat-trick in Monday’s 5-0 thrashing of Coventry City, curling home the opener from 25 yards, tapping in a second moments later before grabbing his third shortly after missing a second-half penalty.
Gomis joined Forest in 2015 after scoring goals for fun over in France and has barely stopped hitting the back of the net ever since. But while his one-time U18 team-mate Brereton (below) has been thrown into the first-team, he is still awaiting a first-team senior debut in Nottingham Forest colours.

Though with Championship survival now assured for another season, there could hardly be a better time for Karanka to give Gomis a chance and see what he can bring to the table.
In the eyes of Nottingham Forest fans, he could hardly do worse than the misfiring hitman currently leading the line.
