Everton have been reportedly looking at AC Milan right-back Davide Calabria for some time but will he swap Serie A for the Premier League?

If Everton’s scouts were watching AC Milan’s Europa League round of 16 clash with Arsenal on Thursday night, they would not have had too many positive things to say about Davide Calabria.

The 21-year-old right-back struggled big time as Arsenal cruised to a 2-0 away win that could have been far more and seemingly puts the tie out of Milan’s reach even at the halfway stage.

He was culpable in Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s early strike, giving the ball away initially before being turned easily to allow the Armenian to hammer home the opener via a vital deflection of Leonardo Bonucci.

It would be harsh to criticise Calabria too much considering that he has only been a first-team regular for a matter of months and, for the most part, has been excellent since coming into the side. He even scored his first Serie A goal in a mightily impressive 2-0 win at Roma last weekend.

But clearly the Italy U21 international has a lot to learn yet and, on last night’s evidence, it is difficult to suggest that Everton should be willing to pay a huge fee for his services.

Davide Calabria of AC Milan scores the team's second goal during the serie A match between AS Roma and AC Milan at Stadio Olimpico on February 25, 2018 in Rome, Italy.

Calciomercato report that the Toffees have been watching Calabria for a while now, even before his breakthrough under Gennaro Gattuso, with the report suggesting that a move could be made at the end of the season.

But Calabria has a lot to prove still.
