Premier League outfit Bournemouth want Callum McGregor from Scottish Premiership Celtic – but should The Hoops demand Hyndman in the deal?

Eddie Howe the head coach

Eddie Howe has led Bournemouth to successive mid-table finishes in the Premier League and arguably the most highly-rated British manager around right now is keen to push The Cherries to the next level with some big money summer signings.

The Sun (13th May, page 63) reports that Demarai Gray and David Brooks are on his radar – as is the Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor.

The homegrown Hoop has enjoyed his most impressive season in Celtic’s first-team to date but, according to The Sun, may be keen to test himself south of the border this summer with his price tag understood to be around £10 million.

Obviously Celtic would rather not lose a player who has 11 goals and eight assists in 2017/18, but striking a swap deal with Bournemouth could work out best for all parties.

The Daily Record stated in April last year that Celtic had enquired about the highly-rated Bournemouth midfielder Emerson Hyndman who, interestingly, was enjoying a fine loan spell at Old Firm rivals Ranges at the time.

Emerson Hyndman of Rangers controls the ball during the Scottish Cup Quarter final match between Rangers and Hamilton Academical at Ibrox Stadium on March 4, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The American dynamo shone during five months in Scotland, scoring four goals and standing out at Ibrox with his vision, creativity and eye for goal. First team opportunities have been far harder to come across since returning to Bournemouth, however. Hyndman only played 59 minutes of Premier League football all season, coming in a final day win at Burnley on Sunday.

So if McGregor is determined to leave, Celtic should demand Hyndman is included as part of the deal.
