Atalanta’s Serie A defender Timothy Castagne has been linked with Championship outfit Swansea City.
The race to sign Timothy Castagne is hotting up.
The Atalanta defender has emerged as a man in demand in the January transfer window with a number of British clubs having been linked so far.
According to the Daily Record, Celtic are keen to solve their right-back issues by bringing Castagne to Parkhead with the Belgian international seemingly identified as a long-term successor for ageing defender Mikael Lustig.
Swansea City are understood to be interested too despite manager Graham Potter being able to call upon both Kyle Naughton and the impressive Connor Roberts.
And, according to Alfredo Pedulla, Swansea have had a number of meetings with Atalanta in recent days in an attempt to secure a deal to sign Castagne before the end of the month.
But signing the former Genk player could be easier said than done. Pedulla adds that the Serie A high-flyers have no interest in letting Castagne leave on loan while Citta Celeste reports that his price-tag is set at £10 million.
This may well prove to be too rich for a Swansea side who have hardly splashed the cash of late. A £10 million fee would force Celtic to break their transfer record for Castagne too.
