USA international defender Carter-Vickers is playing Championship football with Swansea City, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
There are plenty of reasons for Tottenham Hotspur fans to tune into England’s friendly clash against the USA at Wembley.
Spurs quartet Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Harry Kane are all in the frame to feature at Wembley, but lining up for the opponents could be one Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The young centre-back has been included in the USA squad for the current international break and he will be hoping to add to his six caps.
A promising performance against Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions could go some way to helping Carter-Vickers secure an immediate future in Tottenham’s plans.
The 20-year-old has only ever made four appearances for the North London side and is currently on loan at Swansea City after spending last season at Sheffield United and Ipswich Town.
Speaking to the Standard, Carter-Vickers has now opened up about his situation as he aims to enhance his reputation in South Wales.
“I am enjoying it, the manager is good and so is the team, the manager wants us to play in the right way, playing out the back, keeping possession. I feel like I am improving,” he said.
“The way I am, I just take it as it goes. At the moment I am at Swansea, trying to impress and get results there, and then when I go back to Tottenham at the end of the season then we’ll have to look at the picture from there.”
Carter-Vickers has struggled for game time at Swansea, starting just two Championship games so far. But a future at Tottenham cannot be ruled out, with both Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen out of contract at the end of this season.
