Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United beat Swansea City 2-1 at Elland Road on Tuesday night, moving back to the top of the Championship table.
Graham Potter has backed Leeds United to secure promotion this season after his Swansea City side were outclassed at Elland Road on Tuesday night, as reported by Wales Online.
After a run of five defeats in eight Championship games, Leeds were under pressure to get three points as they welcomed the Swans to West Yorkshire in midweek.
But goals from Pontus Jansson and Jack Harrison, both set up by Gianni Alioski, ensured the Whites moved back to the top of the Championship with Norwich City going down 3-1 at Preston North End.
After the game, Swansea manager Potter has paid tribute to Marcelo Bielsa’s side and admitted that he thinks Leeds are good enough to be playing Premier League football this time next year.
“They’ve got as good a chance as anybody from what I’ve seen,” said the former Ostersunds boss, before pointing out that Leeds were his side’s most challenging opponent this season.
“Yes, away from home, it’s very hostile and Leeds are a good team. They played well so I’d say it’s as tough as it’s been.
“Congratulations to Leeds, overall I thought they deserved to win the game.”
In contrast to Leeds, Swansea’s play-off dreams appear to have slipped through their grasp with the visitors unable to build on Oli McBurnie’s late consolation in West Yorkshire.
The Swans are now twelfth in the Championship table, seven points adrift of the top six as it stands.
