Callum O’Hare left Championship powerhouses Aston Villa for League Two Carlisle United in the January transfer window.

“My time is now to come here, show Carlisle fans what I can do and hopefully push on as a footballer.”
That is what Aston Villa youngster Callum O’Hare told the News and Star before making his debut for the Cumbrians at the weekend. And it’s fair to say he has already shown his class in League Two, shining against Exeter City at Brunton Park.
A classy attacking midfielder, O’Hare is arguably the most promising young talent to emerge from Aston Villa’s academy in many a year but there are always doubts about whether a player can replicate his U23 performances in the gritty environment of lower league professional football.

The 20-year-old, however, is already looking a cut above. He was the Man of the Match on his debut, shining in the 1-1 draw with Exeter while catching the eye with his intelligent passing range and ability to carve open the opposition defence.
It was O’Hare who won the free-kick that Jamie Devitt fired into the net, sealing a draw for the hosts against The Grecians in front of their own fans.
And the reaction from Carlisle fans should not go unnoticed by everyone connected to Aston Villa.
