Jon Walters is on his way out of Burnley and has no problem with swapping the Premier League for the Championship, so how about Leeds United?

Jonathan Walters of Burnley looks on during the pre season friendly match between Preston North End and Burnley at Deepdale on July 25, 2017 in Preston, England.

What do Leeds United need this summer?

How about a proven Championship attacker with a warrior-like will to win? On the face of it, Jon Walters certainly ticks a lot of boxes with the summer transfer window set to kick off.

The 34-year-old attacker has revealed that he is keen to bring an end to a frustrating spell at Burnley, who he joined from Stoke City last summer before making just five appearances in an injury-hit season.

In quotes reported by the Mirror, Walters insists that he is unlikely to still be in Sean Dyche’s squad next season. And, in comments that should be of interest to Leeds, the former Ipswich Town talisman admits he would not have a problem dropping into the Championship.

“I’ll have no qualms about dropping,” he said. “Playing games is what it’s all about.”

And a number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to encourage a bid for a player whose affable attitude would immediately make him a fan favourite at Elland Road, and that is without mentioning his versatility across the front line and a handy knack of providing a respectable goal tally.

At 34, and with just a year left on his contract, Walters would not break the bank this summer, allowing Leeds to devote their funds to other areas of the squad in need of improvement.
