Sunderland are hoping to sell Didier Ndong after being relegated to League One and Premier League, Ligue 1, Serie A and Super Lig clubs have been linked.

Sunderland paid a club-record £13.6 million to sign Didier Ndong in the summer of 2016. But, for most of his two years on Wearside, it seems that the Black Cats have been trying to find someone willing to take him off their hands.

With money tight at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland were desperately trying to sell Ndong in January but Watford only wanted to take him on loan. The Gabonese international then failed to make a single appearance for the Hornets who, unsurprisingly, turned down the chance to sign him permanently for £8 million.

But Sunderland should have an easier task getting Ndong off their books this summer, because clubs in four countries are closely tracking the powerful midfielder.

Gabonese outlet iSport claimed that Premier League newcomers Cardiff City are interested as Neil Warnock aims to strengthen his ranks. As are Ligue 1 giants Lyon, but Ndong is understood to not be keen on a return to France, even though Bruno Genesio’s side will be playing Champions League football next season.

Now, according to Foot Mercato, clubs in Italy have made contact with Ndong while it is understood that a move to Turkey via Super Lig champions Galatasaray is also a possibility.

It seems very unlikely, however, that Sunderland will recoup the £13.6 million they paid Lorient for Ndong two summers ago.
