Aston Villa are allegedly determined to get rid of Ross McCormack and League One Sunderland would reportedly like to sign him on loan.

Sunderland looked close to offering Ross McCormack an escape route out of his Aston Villa nightmare in the January transfer window. But, according to the Mail, the Black Cats failed to agree terms with the forward.
Six months on, however, it seems they are trying again.
McCormack, who cost Villa £12 million in 2016 and is one of the club’s highest earners, has been told he has no future under Steve Bruce and is almost certain to be let go; provided there are offers on the table, that is.
The Mail, though, claims that Sunderland are keen to land the 31-year-old on loan. And, for obvious reasons, signing a striker on big wages – reported to be £40,000 a week according to the Telegraph – who has just endured the worst two years of his career comes with a warning.
On the other hand, however, a fit and firing McCormack could be comfortably the most gifted player in the third tier of English football. His arrival would bring a spectacular end to Sunderland’s long-running chase for a new striker.

McCormack was a prolific goal-scorer at Championship level with Cardiff, Leeds and Fulham. He also netted 13 times in 15 games during a loan spell in Australia with Melbourne Victory last season, some of those absolute stunners.
So, if he can rediscover that form, McCormack would be the sort of signing that would make Sunderland real title favourites.
No one in League One possesses the same natural ability.
