League One Sunderland are reportedly hoping for Billy Sharp from Championship outfit Sheffield United – this could depend on the future of Martyn Waghorn.

After weeks of trying and so many failures, Sunderland have finally signed a striker.
Jerome Sinclair has arrived on loan from Watford, hoping to get some much needed first-team football under his belt after featuring in just 29 minutes of Premier League action last season.
But the 21-year-old former Liverpool youngster has never scored a league goal in his career and therefore looks unlikely to be the only striker that Jack Ross wants to bring to the Stadium of Light before the transfer window slams shut.
The Sunderland Echo report that The Black Cats also want the experienced Sheffield United front-man Billy Sharp, and the forward could slip down the pecking order at Bramall Lane should Chris Wilder add Martyn Waghorn to his squad.
Sunderland, however, may be slightly concerned about reports that former Black Cat Waghorn could be on his way to Derby County, according to The Mirror (live blog, 1.34pm).

Sheffield United made a £5 million club-record bid for Waghorn last Friday, as reported by The Mail, and the Ipswich Town talisman would surely have pushed Sharp down the pecking order, more than likely leading to his exit.
But should The Blades miss out on Waghorn, this could have a negative impact on Sunderland’s hopes of bringing Sharp to Wearside. Are they set to miss out on yet another striker target?
