Championship giants Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to loan out Jorge Grant this summer with League One Sunderland keen on him.
With Nottingham Forest bringing in three Portuguese flyers in Joao Carvalho, Diogo Goncalves and Gil Dias, it seems that Jorge Grant will once again be blocked from a place in the first-team.
The 23-year-old playmaker, who has been part of Forest’s side since 2013, has spent the last two seasons with local rivals Notts County and he has shone too. Grant, with a penchant for wondergoals and the potential to play at a far higher level, scored 18 goals in all competitions in 2017/18 for Kevin Nolan’s side.
No wonder, then, that a number of League One sides have expressed an interest. Among Luton, Bradford, Scunthorpe and Shrewsbury Town, HITC Sport understands that Sunderland are also interested in signing Grant this summer.
Forest, however, have informed suitors that they would only be willing to let the former Nike academy star leave on loan. But this should suit a cash-strapped Sunderland side down to the ground.
Grant might never have played in League One level but he was a cut above in the fourth tier so shouldn’t find the step up too strenuous. And Sunderland’s severe lack of goals means there is certainly a place in the side for a midfielder who has made finding the net from a deeper position something of a trademark in two excellent campaigns at Meadow Lane.
This is a loan move that would benefit all parties.
