League One Sunderland have snapped up Kazaiah Sterling on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the season.
Sunderland manager Jack Ross is clearly delighted to have signed Kazaiah Sterling on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the season.
It was a hectic deadline-day at the Stadium of Light with their high profile pursuit of Wigan Athletic striker Will Grigg somewhat overshadowing Sterling’s arrival on Wearside.
The Enfield-born England U18 international will be wearing the red and white stripes from now until May with Sunderland well placed to seal an immediate return to the Championship.
Sterling has made just two first-team appearances in his professional career so far and will arrive as something of an unknown quantity but Ross obviously believes that he could make a huge impact in the North East.
“Obviously Kazaiah Sterling will join us from Tottenham Hotspur. He will arrive this morning on a loan until the end of the season,” the former St Mirren boss told the Chronicle ahead of Sunderland’s home game against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
“He is a young player with a huge amount of potential and is a dynamic option in the forward area.”
Blessed with skill, speed and excellent dribbling skills, Sterling is likely to get fans off their seats for all the right reasons over the next few months.
And you can guarantee that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will be keeping a close eye on his progress on Wearside. The Argentine coach rates Sterling very highly and a short-term spell of first-team football at Sunderland could be the making of him.
