Jerome Sinclair struggled once again as Sunderland were beaten by League One rivals Walsall in Tuesday’s FA Cup clash at the Stadium of Light.

It seems a long time now since Jerome Sinclair was being tipped for big things at Liverpool.
At the age of just 22, the striker appears to be at a crossroads in his career and an already disappointing loan spell at Sunderland just got a whole lot worse on Tuesday night.
A summer signing from Premier League Watford, Sinclair made just his eighth start for the Black Cats as they welcomed Walsall to the Stadium of Light for a second round FA Cup replay in midweek – a game they went on to lose 1-0 without a shot on target.
And the forward hardly seized a rare opportunity, lining up on the left wing to accommodate the returning Duncan Watmore. The fact that he was ironically cheered off in the second half when Jack Ross decided to put him out of his misery spoke volumes.

Yes, sarcastic applause hardly helps to improve a young player’s confidence but, in the eyes of some supporters, Sinclair is quickly looking like a lost cause.
He has scored just two goals for Sunderland, one of those coming from the penalty spot, and with the January transfer window just weeks away, some are suggesting that a return to Watford would be best for all parties.
