Bradford City seem to have accepted defeat in their attempts to keep Charlie Wyke from League One rivals Sunderland, with Eoin Doyle reportedly lined up.

Sunderland’s summer-long pursuit of a proven goal-scorer finally looks set to come to an end.
After weeks of speculation and a number of failed bids, the Mirror (live blog, 8.39pm) reported that Sunderland are set to see off competition from Championship duo Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic in order to land the coveted Charlie Wyke.
The Bradford City target man, who scored 15 goals in League One last season, appears to be on his way back to the North East having started his career at Middlesbrough.
It is not known how much Wyke will cost, but it could be up to £1 million, with the Bolton News reporting earlier in July that the Bantams wanted a seven-figure sum for their talismanic striker.
And, in a further boost to Sunderland’s chances, it seems that Bradford have a replacement for Wyke lined up already. According to the Chronicle, the Yorkshire outfit want to sign Eoin Doyle, who netted 14 times on loan for a relegated Oldham Athletic side in 2017/18.

It is well documented that Preston have made Doyle available for transfer and the Chronicle suggests that Bradford’s interest is a clear sign that they are braced for another Sunderland move for Wyke.
Ironically, Sunderland were linked with Doyle earlier in the window. But his move to Valley Parade could be the turning point that sees Wyke finally move to the Stadium of Light.
