Cameron Carter-Vickers won’t have a future in the Premier League with Spurs if he continues like this at Championship Stoke City.

With Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld out of contract next summer, not to mention Davinson Sanchez’s rather erratic form, this felt like a big season for Cameron Carter-Vickers. Almost make-or-break.
Impress on loan at Stoke City and the American academy graduate could have secured a first-team place in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans by the time the summer of 2020 rolls around.
But, ten games in his Potters career, Carter-Vickers’ reputation has hit rock bottom as a future at Spurs fades from view. Stoke are 24th in the Championship heading towards the third international break of the season and it was Carter-Vickers’ wild challenge which put them there.

The most reckless, ridiculous tackle you will ever see gifted West Brom a penalty during their oh-so comfortable 2-0 win at the Bet365 Stadium on Monday night. Carter-Vickers flew at poor Grady Diangana with both feet off the ground inside the box and inevitably left him sprawling.
This was far worse, it has to be said, than the Heung-Min Son challenge which ruined Andre Gomes’ season.
“It’s just ludicrous. It shows there’s no discipline,” former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan told Jim White on talkSPORT (5 November, 10:00am).
For once, Tottenham fans are agreeing with him.
