Steven Gerrard’s former Liverpool goalkeeper Andy Firth is joining him at Scottish Premiership powerhouses Rangers.

Well it’s fair to say few saw this one coming.
After landing two Premier League veterans in Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis, then adding a pair of proven Scottish Premiership stars Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones, Rangers have completed their fifth signing of the January transfer window – non-league goalkeeper Andy Firth.

Rangers fans have plenty of questions about the deal.
After all, the goalkeeping position is not one where Rangers are short of options. Allan McGregor, even at 36, has been outstanding this season with Wes Foderingham providing a high-quality back-up.
Young Robby McCrorie is highly-rated in Glasgow while New Zealand international Stefan Marinovic, who plays his football in the MLS with Vancouver Whitecaps, has also been on trial at Ibrox, according to Sky Sports.

So where would Firth fit in?
