Stefanos Kapino could reportedly return to Greece after just four Championship appearances for Nottingham Forest.

After just four games in English football, Nottingham Forest could be about to make a tidy profit on Stefanos Kapino.

The goalkeeper arrived in February on a free after being released by Olympiakos but the Mail (live blog, 12.29pm) claim he could be about to return to Greece after a grand total of four months, with Atromitos keen to sign him on a permanent basis.

And it seems that Kapino would be allowed to leave with the blessing of the City Ground faithful.

Because, despite arriving amid big expectations, the Greek international never really looked comfortable in English football, although there is an admittedly small sample size in which to judge his performances.

Kapino made four starts in the final weeks of last season with Costel Pantilimon absent for personal reasons. But, like many foreign goalkeepers arriving in England’s second tier, notably Matz Sels and Pierluigi Gollini, Kapino found the physical nature of the game and the succession of high balls and whipped crosses difficult to deal with.

This does not bode well for a Forest side who have haemorrhaged goals at an alarming rate over the last two seasons. After dabbling with Vladimir Stojkovic and Jordan Smith, Forest need a solid, reliable goalkeeper and Kapino is not it.
