Callum O’Hare has been named Academy Player of the Year for Championship outfit Aston Villa.

Aston Villa fans have spent the last few months clamouring for Callum O’Hare to be given a run in the first-team – and now they have even more to back-up their claims that the youngster deserves a chance.
The 19-year-old has been the star of the show in Aston Villa’s U23 squad this season, scoring 10 goals in 15 games from a creative midfield role to inspire Kevin McDonald’s side to a second placed finish in the Premier League 2 Division Two table, not to mention the semi-finals of the Premier League Cup.

And O’Hare has been rewarded with his performances with the Academy Player of the Year award – just deserts for a fantastic campaign which should surely put the 19-year-old within reach of the first team, at least in the eyes of Aston Villa fans.
As it stands, O’Hare has made just four substitute appearances in the Championship this season and has not featured in the league since back in January. In fact, his most recent senior outing was the FA Cup defeat to Peterborough United.

But, since Steve Bruce’s arrival in October 2016, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Andre Green and Keinan Davis have been established as first-team regulars.
And it seems only right that O’Hare is next in line.
