Four years after making his ill-judged move to Sheffield Wednesday, Stevie May should be given the chance to return home by Rangers.

Stevie May is far from the only striker prolific in the Scottish Premiership who struggled to find his shooting boots in the English second tier.
Kris Boyd, the top scorer in the history of the Scottish top flight, toiled badly at Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest while Gary Hooper, a two-time title winner with Celtic, has hardly set the world alight at Sheffield Wednesday.

Though May makes Boyd look positively prolific. The one-time Scotland international netted just seven times in his debut season for Sheffield Wednesday after joining in 2014.
And, after moving to Preston North End just a year later, he has hit the net just once during an injury ravaged spell at Deepdale.
Consequently, the Scottish Sun claim that Rangers were interested in handing May a lifeline in January – and the striker admits that their approach boosted his self-confidence during a draining period of his career.

And this should give Rangers enough encouragement to renew their interest this summer. Manager Pedro Caixinha is embarking upon a major overhaul of his playing staff, with Bruno Alves and Ryan Jack likely to be joined by a whole host of new additions.
One position Rangers are yet to strengthen, however, is the attack. And the fact that 37-year-old Kenny Miller was the only player to hit double figures in 2016/17 tells you where their deficiencies lie.
Furthermore, the Daily Record report that 2016 marquee signing Joe Garner could be let go for a cut-price fee after a disappointing debut campaign.

As such, they should at least consider giving May another chance. He plundered 20 goals in 38 games for St Johnstone in 2013/14 and could be the prolific forward Rangers are crying out for.
That is if he puts his injury issues to one side.
