Do Steven Naismith’s comments suggest move to Glasgow Rangers would appeal?

Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have been heavily linked with a move for Steven Naismith in recent times.

Steven Naismith has suggested that a permanent move to Scotland would still appeal to him in the Edinburgh News, which could give hope to Glasgow Rangers that a deal is still possible.

Naismith has previously spoken about his desire to return to Ibrox in the Daily Mail, but no move materialised in January.

Instead, the attacker moved to Hearts on loan from Norwich City and he has impressed.

Naismith is now expected to leave Norwich on a permanent basis in the summer, and he has suggested a stay at Hearts would appeal.

However, Naismith’s qualification that a move to Scotland is something which would tempt him, suggest that Rangers could have a chance to sign him, if they rivalled The Jambos.

He said: “I’ve got another year on my contract there and they’ve moved in a different direction, undoubtedly. They will have a say in it but I would definitely be open to staying in Scotland and staying at Hearts.

“I’m open-minded to anything at the moment. I have enjoyed it here. It’s a totally different set-up in terms of what I have been at before. That brings its own new challenges but also good points as well. Norwich will have a big say in what happens in the summer but I’m definitely open-minded.”

Naismith has proven that he still has a future in Scotland, after providing a goal and two assists since signing up, and he may have caught Rangers’ eye.

Of course, Rangers would have to convince the attacker he would be better off at Ibrox than Hearts, but the former Everton forward has always stated that a return to Glasgow would appeal.

Naismith came through at Rangers, and spent five years with their senior side before moving on in 2012.

If Naismith was to make a switch to Rangers, he would further strengthen a forward line, which has been in fine form of late.
