Alberto Moreno’s time at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is up, but could he really join Premier League rivals Arsenal?

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has joked on ESPN that he hopes to see Alberto Moreno join Arsenal this summer.
A £12 million signing from Sevilla in 2014 (BBC), Moreno has spent much of the last few years at Anfield warming the bench with Andrew Robertson taking the Spaniard’s place in the starting XI after a series of error-strewn performances.
Moreno was largely pilloried for his role in the Europa League final defeat to his former club Sevilla in 2016 and, with his contract set to expire this summer, Liverpool have already made it clear that he will not be offered a new deal.
But where could the 26-year-old end up? Well, Nicol believes that a reunion with former Sevilla coach Unai Emery at Arsenal would only enhance Liverpool’s hopes of cementing their place ahead of the Gunners in the Premier League table.
“As a Liverpool fan, I hope so!” Nicol joked when asked about Moreno swapping Merseyside for North London.
“Quite honestly, Moreno can’t defend and the whole reason Liverpool brought in Robertson is so they could have someone who can actually defend.

“(Emery) must know Moreno can’t defend. Is he any better defensively than (Nacho) Monreal? No, he’s not.”
Moreno has been linked with the likes of Barcelona and Fenerbahce but it remains to be seen where a left-back who’s defensive deficiencies have been clear for all to see over the last five years ends up.
