Steven McClaren continues to prove that, sometimes, the grass isn’t always greener elsewhere.

Countless QPR fans were demanding the head of the former England manager after a dreadful start to the 2018/19 season which included four defeats out of four and a humiliating 7-1 thrashing away at West Brom.

Suddenly, however, the previously under fire McClaren is turning QPR around. Boosted by the August arrivals of strike duo Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells, the Loftus Road outfit have now picked up 10 points from their last four games and continued their recent revival with a 2-0 win against Millwall on Wednesday.

Massimo Luongo got the opener against Neil Harris’ side but it was the highly-rated 20-year-old Ebere Eze who once again stole the show and scored a terrific second goal.

“They told me that when I first came. I watched him a lot last season and how anybody can let him go… I’m just so glad we’ve got him,” McClaren told Football London of Eze, who ironically spent two years at Millwall before joining QPR in 2016.

“He’s a talent, but he can get better. I think we need to add discipline to his game, and work rate, but he’s showing that and he’s getting the rewards in the performances.

“We’ve told him that you’ve got to be disciplined and do a job for the team and I thought he was excellent today.”

QPR are now just four points adrift of the play-offs and the thrilling displays of Eze should give the fans something to look forward to over the next few months.
