Callum O’Hare shone for Aston Villa’s Under 23s last season but only played four games in the Championship, all as a substitute.

A great number of Aston Villa fans have been clamouring for some time for Callum O’Hare to be given a run in the first-team. So latest reports in the Birmingham Mail won’t go down well at all with some supporters.

It is claimed that O’Hare, who was named Aston Villa’s Academy Player of the Year last season, is expected to leave on loan this month with first-team opportunities understood to be limited under Steve Bruce, who has been criticised for an apparent reluctance to give the club’s young attackers a chance.

The departures of Robert Snodgrass and Josh Onomah looked set to open a door for O’Hare, who scored 10 goals in 17 games for the U23s in 2017/18.

But Bruce still seems unwilling to give an opportunity to the 20-year-old attacking midfielder. O’Hare made just four substitute appearances in the Championship last season, totalling 103 minutes of first-team action.

The report adds that another young attacker, Harry McKirdy, is also expected to leave on loan. He spent time at Crewe Alexandra last season.

And it has been suggested that James Bree is another who could head towards the exit. The former Barnsley right-back (below) hasn’t featured this season and is behind Alan Hutton and Ahmed Elmohamady in the pecking order.
