Nottingham Forest’s poor season took another turn for the worse against Wigan Athletic.

Stan Collymore has taken to Twitter to slam Nottingham Forest after their 2-0 FA Cup third round defeat by Wigan Athletic – and the fans surely will agree.

Forest have endured another disappointing season under new boss Philippe Montanier, standing just two points above the drop zone in the Championship after a dismal run of form which coincided with the sale of prized asset Oliver Burke late on in the summer transfer window.

Any hopes Forest fans had of distracting themselves from their dismal league form with an overdue cup run were extinguished on Saturday as goals from Will Grigg and Yanic Wildschut either side of half time, plus a missed penalty from Eric Lichaj, condemned them to a 2-0 loss.

And Collymore has vented his fury once again on Twitter after over 1,500 Forest fans, as reported by the club’s official website, travelled to Lancashire to witness another below par performance.

Reports say that American businessman John Jay Moores is set to take over at the City Ground in the coming days and that cannot come too soon for a fan base who have become increasingly disillusioned.

Current owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has frequently sanctioned the sale of key players without bringing in adequate replacements and most Forest fans will no doubt agree with Collymore’s statement.
