Daniel Candeias opened the scoring in bizarre fashion as Rangers beat St Mirren 2-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Rangers certainly rode their look in Paisley on Saturday.
Steven Gerrard’s side had failed to break down a stubborn St Mirren team in a tight Scottish Premiership clash, but they took the side in the 80th minute thanks to a goal that owed itself either to mesmeric intuition or pure luck, St Mirren goalkeeper Kenny Samson beaten by a swerving long-range finish by Daniel Candeias.
But was it a stunning shot or simply an over-hit cross carried into the net in blustery conditions?
The home team’s manager, Oran Kearney, certainly seems none the wiser, but he was disappointed to lose the game in such a fashion.
“It’s those fine margins,” Kearney told St Mirren’s official YouTube channel.

“If it’s a shot, I’ll doff my cap and say it’s a good finish. If it’s a cross then it’s one of those where it’s an unfortunate way to go behind in a game.”
Alfredo Morelos clinched a vital win for Rangers in stoppage time, firing home the second before Candeias was himself sent off for a second yellow card. As a result, Gerrard’s Gers are now up to third and just five points adrift of Hearts in the Scottish Premiership table.
The win could be a very big one in Rangers’ season, coming off the back of a Scottish League Cup semi-final loss against Aberdeen and a 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock in midweek.
