Jason Kerr was the Man of the Match as St Johnstone held Celtic to a 0-0 draw in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.

Jack Hendry impressed Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers so much during a league clash with Dundee back in October that the Scottish champions signed him three months later.
Upon Rodgers’ request, Celtic paid £1.5 million for a 22-year-old centre-back that the manager himself had described as ‘outstanding’, per the Scottish Sun.
Last weekend, another impressive young centre-half produced an inspired performance against the Hoops. St Johnstone snatched a very impressive goalless draw against Celtic at Parkhead and, on this evidence, he too should be on Rodgers’ radar.

The 21-year-old only made his St Johnstone senior debut in late January after spending the first-half of the season on loan at Queen of the South, but he has not looked back since and the game against Celtic was probably the most impressive of Kerr’s young career.
Not only did he keep the champions’ talented forward line quiet, he produced a point-saving, last-gasp challenge to deny Moussa Dembele what looked like a certain goal right at the death. Even St Johnstone’s official twitter account described this piece of defensive artistry as the ‘tackle of the season’.

Celtic did bolster their defensive ranks in January with the signings of Hendry and Marvin Compper, but there are doubts about the futures of Erik Sviatchenko, Dedryck Boyata and the Jozo Simunovic. Therefore, Rodgers may be in the market for another young, promising defender in the summer and Kerr should be up for consideration.
