Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce reportedly wants to re-sign John Terry.

With the humiliating 4-1 defeat at Sheffield United still fresh in the memory, Steve Bruce has taken drastic action to shore up Aston Villa’s leaky defence.
According to The Sun, the Aston Villa manager is desperately hoping to convince the club’s owners to bring 37-year-old John Terry back to the Steel City, three months after he left upon the expiry of his contract.
Terry was instrumental in captaining Aston Villa to the play-off final last season, rolling back the years and proving once and for all that age is just a number.
He would most definitely be a massive addition to Villa’s starting XI, particularly given Mile Jedinak has been forced to play out of position at centre-back in five of the club’s six Championship games in 2018/19.
But Bruce’s hopes appear to be hanging by a thread. He is not the only man who wants to offer Terry a contract after all.

Portuguese publication Record is claiming that Sporting Lisbon are offering the former England skipper the chance to ply his trade outside of Britain for the first time.
Terry is a favourite of Madeira Rodrigues, one of the men competing to be Sporting’s new president. Speaking to Record, he said; “John Terry, a great champion. He’s a captain without an armband. I think he’s very close to being our player.”
Sporting will name their new president this Saturday, meaning Villa could be in a race against time to get Terry signed up.
