The 20-year-old right-back has impressed in just six senior appearances.
In this madcap, money fuelled modern world where Jake Livermore is considered a £15 million midfielder, Southampton’s eye for a bargain and their trust in young players is all the more refreshing.
And, according to The Sun, Birmingham City right-back Josh Dacres-Cogley has worked his way onto The Saints’ radar as they aim to add another exciting British talent to their ever-growing collection.

The 20-year-old only made his first-team debut against Brentford in late November but his composure in possession and athleticism in attack immediately caught the eye.

He certainly wouldn’t look out of place in a Southampton side who place a huge attacking impetus on their jet-heeled full-backs.
And, after just five more appearances in the first-team, The Sun report that The Saints are ready to make their move though, having joined the club at 14, Dacres-Cogley has developed an affinity to Birmingham – one that could block Southampton’s advances, for now at least.

“I want to keep on working hard and keep on trying to get in the team – that’s the aim. I want to be a permanent member in this team,” Dacres-Cogley said earlier in the season, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

“It’s been a dream. I have been wanting this since I was a little kid, I just want to kick on now.”
Regardless of the allure of the Premier League, Dacres-Cogley appears unlikely to give up his dream after just two months.
