Southampton are one of many Premier League clubs reportedly interested in Bristol City’s Championship centre-back Adam Webster.

In a bizarre twist of fate, Southampton could potentially make a Portsmouth academy graduate their new record signing this summer.
At the age of 12, a young Adam Webster joined the youth ranks at Fratton Park and, five years later, his dream came true. A debut against West Ham in 2012 was the first of 81 games for the 2008 FA Cup winners – though there was little the talented centre-back could do to stop Pompey from plummeting from the Championship to League Two in the blinking of an eye.
It is now three years since Webster pulled on the blue shirt of Portsmouth. And surely that is long enough for Southampton fans to forget about his allegiances to the club down the road.
According to TEAMtalk, The Saints are one of many Premier League clubs keen to give Webster the chance to prove himself at the top level for the first time.

The now 24-year-old is coming off the back of a fabulous first season at Bristol City – one which has seen his price-tag soar to a staggering £30 million, according to the Bristol Post.
If Southampton are willing to pay such a fee, former Portsmouth favourite Webster will become their record signing. And who would have expected that when he made his debut in Pompey colours seven years ago?
